Youth Volunteering

Youth Volunteering Report

Joining the right to read scheme helped me to venture further into greater voluntary roles. Thanks to the team, who arranged the entire process from initial training, CRB identification and placement, I was able to seamlessly begin volunteering with great confidence. Personally I gained so much from the scheme as it gave me great pleasure to see students, I mentored, get better at reading. Every week that I visited Launde Primary School I was met with, eager to learn, students who looked forward to telling me about the books they've read.

Being on the Right to Read scheme also helped me when applying to university as I was able to show my devotion to helping people, vital for a future career in medicine (fingers crossed).

I wish to thank the Right to Read team and the participating schools who take part. Who help many students take part in volunteering schemes. I'm sure I speak for most other students when I say that Right to Read was an enjoyable and beneficial scheme that helps hundreds of primary school pupils vastly improve their literacy skills.

Many Thanks
