Mini Bus Services

Transport of Organised Groups.

Mini_b1

Our Volunteer Transport Scheme provides affordable transport for community groups to attend different venues. These groups include the physically and mentally disabled, partially sighted and the frail and elderly.

We provide affordable transport for community groups to allow them to go out and about and attend their meeting on a regular basis; ably supported by volunteer drivers and escorts.

We covered a total of over 7,500 miles during the year April 2007 to March 2008, which encompassed the group visits, as mentioned above, as well as our popular trips out for local people. These are well attended with usually two trips per month in the both Summer and Winter. Our minibus only takes 10 passengers, 1 wheelchair and the driver, so it is very much first come first served when making bookings. We always try to mix our trips up in each programme so that there is something for everyone, and for the able or less able amongst us. We are always looking for new ideas and we are happy to revisit favourites as well.

The venues we have visited this year have been pub lunches at the Mill on the Soar near Broughton Astley, antiques and crafts at Whitemoors near Market Bosworth, the Great Central Railway war time event near Loughborough, Gates Garden Centre near Oakham, Down Town Garden Centre and Retail Park, Grantham, shopping trips to Moreton in the Marsh Market, and at Beaumont Leys, and sightseeing trips to Rutland Water. Two new venues have proved very popular; Althorp House in Northamptonshire and Bridges Entertainment Venue near Worcester. The show and meal at Bridges at Christmas was a real success, a comedy Hi de Hi production, so much so that the Spring and Winter programmes for 2008 will have another two events planned for there.

If you would like to be on our mailing list for our trips then please do not hesitate to call us, we would be delighted to include you in the future. We feel that the transport costs are kept at a reasonable price and are value for money. However, all this cannot be achieved without our volunteer drivers who provide us with their time and driving expertise, and our escorts for ably assisting them, - for without their cheerfulness our Scheme, especially the trips, would not be as popular or well used – so thank you all.
